​Born in 1954 in Yorkshire, Charles Adrian Brotherton-Ratcliffe knew as a child that he was to be a painter. He has lived in Italy, Luxembourg, Monaco, Belgium and many parts of France and in the early years he did some very different jobs along the way. Since 1985 he has been entirely devoted to painting and has had over fifty exhibitions.
